Job Description: We are seeking educators to train new drivers in an in-car setting. The role of the driving instructor is to provide safe, well explained, patient & personable instruction to the student he/she is teaching. The course of instruction is focused on safe and defensive driving practices and theories. Successful candidates will have the ability to recognize variations in learning styles and adapt the delivery to optimize the learning experience. Students vary in age, background and experience so the instructor must be adaptable to each session and student.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Able to instruct students in a patient, calm and personable fashion to increase customer value and lessen stress.
Display professional and welcoming demeanor both in person and on the phone.
Interact in a positive and timely manner with parents, students and staff; and courteously provide necessary assistance.
Educate and evaluate new drivers behind the wheel, both adult and teenagers.
Communicates effectively to parents / spouses/ family members of the student’s driving skills , abilities and areas that need continued practice .
Observes applicant’s driving ability by conducting and rating road evaluations, specifying maneuvers to be performed; monitoring traffic safety rule compliance and filling out road evaluation score sheet.
Ability to apply car control techniques to the road and highway sessions with clients and instruct them properly.
Provide Community Awareness of NControl Driving School by delivering presentations to schools and community groups, insurance companies and the general public.
Document thoroughly by completing forms, reports and records.
Enhance customer satisfaction by providing clear, concise and patient teaching techniques for clients.
Accept ownership of new opportunities that add value to the job and personnel; wanting to improve Driver’s Education in the State of Arizona.
Skills and Requirements:
Excellent customer service skills. Position requires coordination between parents and the student as lessons progress.
Valid Arizona Driver's License
No convictions/citations for DUI, excessive speeding or reckless driving in the past 39 months.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
The instructor should be knowledgeable of the application of the laws of the State of Arizona and behind the wheel driving as stated in the MVD driver’s manual.
The instructor will be required to pass and meet state standard testing through the State of Arizona Motor Vehicle Department.
The instructor is to administer road evaluations to students when applicable and be trained and/or have the understanding of filling out the appropriate MVD forms.
The instructor will be trained or have the understanding of using the second brake system in all vehicles.
The instructor is required to completely and concisely fill out the road evaluation score sheet that NControl Driving School will provide that will then be available for parents / families to view. (You will be trained for this).
There will be no use of electronic devices during the time of instruction.
There will be no smoking during the hours of instruction. There will be the availability of break periods in between students if needed.
The instructor will be provided adequate and sufficient training in all required areas listed above.
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
Professionalism, Patience, Integrity, Thoroughness, Objectivity, People Skills, Verbal Communication and Teaching Skills, Documentation Skills, Decision Making, Legal Compliance, Attention to Detail.
State MVD Certification for Driving Instruction is a valuable plus but not required.
Background in driver’s education, car control and professional driving/racing skills is an asset to apply car control and evasive maneuvers to real life road and highway driving.
Previous Law Enforcement, EMT or Firefighter background a plus.
Positions are full or part time, Instructors drive Monday - Saturday, between the hours of: 9:00am to 9:00pm. TSS Instructors often have Sunday classes. A lot of our students are in high school so it is a plus to be available evenings and weekends.
